Barbara Lawrence is the Broker in Charge and owner of Aiken Fine Homes and Land Ltd. Co. Barbara started her real estate career in 1989 when her husband was transferred to Lake City, Florida with the U.S. Forest Service. She started as an agent with Century 21, became the office manager for Coldwell Banker and eventually opened her own real estate office, Advantage Realty.
Since then, Barbara and her husband made 2 other moves with the Forest Service which brought them to Aiken in 2005. They love Aiken and plan to make it their permanent home.
In May 2014, Keith retired from a 35 year career with the Forest Service and Barbara opened Aiken Fine Homes and Land, specializing in selling homes and farms and providing property management.
Having grown up on a farm, Barbara has always had a special interest in "the land". She strongly believes in home ownership and making wise investments in real property.
When Barbara decided to go into the Real Estate Profession, she gave up working for public schools. However, she did not give up teaching. She believes with good information comes good decisions. She has also participated in area classroom studies meant to introduce students to the home buying process.
Barbara is also an avid gardener and has given several presentations on "Building a Garden" with a particular focus on designing and building hardscapes. Also drawing on her teaching experience, Barbara has started writing a scientific series of books designed to introduce younger children to the animals they may encounter in their environment. The first one was published in 2012-just in time for the birth of her first grandchild, Lucy!
Barbara looks forward to meeting and working with anyone who is interested in making a real estate purchase or has a property to sell. She is will to brainstorm any situation to try to reach a successful and happy conclusion!
